  1. Hello,

I’d like to get word out to emergency first responders about an upcoming training opportunity that should be of interest. The National Cave Rescue Commission, a division of the National Speleological Society, will be holding a two-day course, Orientation to Cave Rescue in Schoharie, NY on June 9 & 10. Due to logistical considerations, those interested in attending should contact Emily Davis of Speleobooks in Schoharie at email@speleobooks.com or the NCRC Northeastern Region Coordinator Greg Moor at mooregr@greenms.com.

Orientation to Cave Rescue is an introductory level program which consists of classroom and field work in all phases of cave rescue including: underground environment, extrication techniques, communication systems, medical management, and organization and management of cave rescue. The basic orientation course material is presented for students who typically include cavers, emergency services personnel, and rescue management personnel.

Registration includes materials, instruction and food. Free lodging is available.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and assistance.
